Hello,
I hope I've got the right area for this.
I really need some help. Mid-February of this year I bought an Asus nEtbook. I put Jaws 12 on it. I was mostly using it in school since I have a desktop at home. So although I used it only a few times a week, the netbook seemed to run fine.
However, within the last three weeks, something has been going on. I dont' know what's the trigger, but I can be surfing the web and all of a sudden Jaws will freeze. or the computer will freeze. I'm not sure. All I know is that when I show the computer to a sighted person, they say it has a message that Jaws is not responding. But the whole computer is frozen. I'm forced to turn it off at the button. Which I naturally dont' like, however it's proven to be the only thing that will get it out.
I dont' know what to do. I'm thinking this is a Jaws issue, so perhaps I should contact Freedom Scientific. But honestly, I'm at a loss. I'm not a real techie, so I feel like a fish out of water.
If there are other netbook Jaws users that have experienced my problem and can help, please do! I would most appreciate it.
Thank you,
Natalie

It is not Jaws it is Windows. The fix is to remove and reinstall Jaws. Next have that sighted person take a look at how many things are running. What I mean by that is how many programs are running at once. Having as few as possible on a netbook is par, specially if you only have the standard 1 GB or ram. In the search box type msconfig and your friend can see how many programs start with windows. It could also be the IE, so reset it and see if that works before redoing Jaws. I use a netbook with Jaws 12 all the time, no freezing, so it's not Jaws. If you need help on how to reset IE post and I'll tell you.
That is what I was saying! my netbook has become sorta my desktop lol!
I also thought about other issues. Have you defragmented it lately, or used the system tools to clean up the disc? On a netbook the cleanup is more important due to it being low powered.
